CAS-TWAS Workshop: Extreme Weather and Climate Events
The International Center for Climate and Environment Sciences (ICCES) at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) will hold a workshop 14-23 July in Beijing on assessing and planning for extreme weather and climate events in developing nations. Deadline for registration: 31 May 2013.

TWAS is calling for nominations for the 2013 TWAS-Lenovo Science Prize in physics or astronomy. The prize carries a USD100,000 award. Deadline for nominations is 10 June 2013!

12th CAS-TWAS-WMO Forum
The 12th CAS-TWAS-WMO Forum – an international workshop on operational oceanography for developing countries – will take place between 9 and 12 September 2013, in Beijing, China. Deadline for early registration: 5 July 2013; for abstract submission: 10 July 2013.
OWSD Fellowships: 2013 Call for applications now open
The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) offers postgraduate fellowships to female scientists from sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries. Deadline for applications: 31 July 2013.
New fellowship agreement with CIIT
TWAS and the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) have signed an agreement that will allow postgraduate students, postdocs and visiting scholars to study at CIIT in Pakistan. Deadline for applications is 31 August 2013.
The Elsevier Foundation, OWSD and TWAS call for nominations for 2014 Awards
10 April 2013. The Elsevier Foundation, OWSD and TWAS are inviting nominations for the 2014 Awards honouring female early-career chemists working in the developing world. Nominations are accepted until 15 September 2013.
