14 May. The contest, whose theme is 'Sustainable Energy for All', is open to all TWAS Members, TWAS Young Affiliates, TWAS Alumni, winners of TWAS prizes, fellowships and grants. The first three finalists will receive cash awards. Deadline for submission of photos is 15 August 2012.

Excellence in science series

excellence in science seriesExcellence in Science: Profiles of Research Institutions in Developing Countries is a series of booklets published by TWAS highlighting successful scientific institutions in the South. Ten institutions have so far been profiled: INBio (Costa Rica), CBS (Tunisia), IMRA (Madagascar), CDRI (India), IMPLAD (China), IHI (Tanzania), SAIAB (South Africa), NARL (Uganda), ORI (Botswana) and IMS (Zanzibar, Tanzania). The volumes are also available for download as PDF files.

Scienza Express logoScienza Express is a young Italian publishing house that focuses on scientific themes. Its mission is to bridge the gap between the scientific community and the citizenry. Scienza Express is now partnering with TWAS to publish a new book series presenting successful examples of good science in the developing countries.
