2012 TWAS-ROESEAP Symposium on Frontiers in Chemical Engineering
The 2012 TWAS-ROESEAP Symposium, on 'Frontiers in Chemical Engineering', organized by the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, will take place on 27-31 July 2012.
TWAS Regional Prizes 2011
21 November. The prizes, which are awarded by TWAS's five regional offices, carry a USD3,000 cash award. This year they have been awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of scientific educational material.

The 2011 TWAS-ROESEAP Symposium on Industrial Biotechnology will be held at the Congress Centre "Vision Hotel" in Beijing, China, from 26 to 30 August 2011.
TWAS-AAS-Microsoft 2010 Award for Young Scientists
25 February. Three African scientists have been awarded the 2010 TWAS-AAS-Microsoft Award for Young Scientists, given by TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world, the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and Microsoft Research. The award, funded by Microsoft Research, recognizes outstanding research in computer sciences conducted by African scientists that has – or promises to have – an impact in the developing world.
Caribbean first
13 December. "Every child in Jamaica wants to become a medical doctor, but they don't know the other opportunities that science has to offer," says TWAS Young Affiliate Marvadeen Singh-Wilmot, a lecturer in the chemistry department at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Mona, Jamaica.
TWAS-ARO 6th Annual Meeting
TWAS's Regional Office in Alexandria will hold its 6th annual meeting on 22 December 2010 at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Deadline for registration was 15 December 2010.
TWAS Regional Prizes for Public Understanding and Popularization of Science

Each year, TWAS's five Regional Offices select up to five excellent young scientists (below the age of 40) to be come 'TWAS Young Affiliates'.
Workshop for water engineers and scientists from the South
The TWAS Regional Office in Beijing is organizing a workshop, '2010 TWAS Frontier in Water and Sanitation', for water engineers and scientists from developing countries from 16 to 21 August 2010.
African computer scientists recognized
7 December 2009. Microsoft Research, TWAS and AAS reward three African computer scientists showing potential to accelerate economic development in Africa.
